Fox Lunar: The Best MTB Clothes To Be Seen In

Some high visibility clothing can look a bit geeky, but this is the price you pay to not get squashed while riding. But now there is a new line of high visibility threads from the mountain biker’s staple brand, Fox. The Fox lunar range is ideal for riders that like to ride even when the days are short and the nights are long. Here is a round up of the the Fox Lunar clothing range and why it is so good.

FLEXAIR PRO LUNAR 3L JACKET

Fox Flexair lunar jacket

This jacket is designed to increase your visibility in low light conditions. The Fox logos and details are reflective, which helps you stand out, as does the hi-vis yellow colour.

The Flexair Pro Lunar 3L is made from a technical, water proof and breathable fabric. This means that you will stay dry on the outside and on the inside. Its features include a hood that fits over your helmet and strategic laser vents that give you great airflow without inflating the jacket as you are bombing along a trail.

I really like that the pockets are a good size to stash your essentials safely. I also like how this jacket looks and fits. It has an enduro style fit and cut, which means it has enough room to layer up, but isn’t so baggy that it flaps around at speed.

This is a quality jacket that will keep you warm, dry and safe while riding your bike.

Features

  • Our most breathable waterproof MTB jacket
  • Special Edition hi-vis fabric and reflective logos for increased visibiliy
  • Advanced weather protection features fully taped seams and waterproof zippers
  • 10,000mm/30,000gm 3-Layer breathable waterproof fabric
  • Hidden laser perforations in the hood make sure it doesn’t inflate on descents
  • Laser cut billowed chest pocket to keep your things away from the body when pockets are stuffed
  • Front hand pockets with separate compartments to keep your stuff in place while you ride
  • Adjustable hood fits over most helmets
  • Draw cord on lower hem for precise fit
  • Zippered storm flap to easily reach valuables in mid-layers
  • Water-resistant YKK front zipper

This vest is very well ventilated with laser perforations. This means that it will reduce your sweatiness and dry out quickly. These features make the Fox Defend Lunar Vest a great item of clothing for cold weather night riding.

Features

  • The most reflective outer layer available
  • Fully reflective body fabric
  • Laser perforations for targeted cooling
  • Full-width mesh pocket on hip
  • Body: 100% polyester

This is a great jersey for when you are riding hard and working up a sweat, or when the conditions get a bit soggy. The fabric is not only designed to reduce the amount you sweat, but it has built in resistance to abrasion. This means that the fabric is durable and prevents snags and rubs from bushes and overgrown branches on the trails.

  • Polartec® Delta™ is engineered across the fabric surface to increase airflow, reduce friction, and dissipate heat
  • Cordura™ knit sleeves are soft and flexible with exceptional abrasion resistance

For riders that prefer short sleeve Jerseys, you can’t go wrong with the Ranger Drirelease Lunar Short Sleeve Jersey. This also has the Polartec® Delta™ fabric for superior drying ability. This fabric acts as a cooling system to reduce the amount you sweat when working hard. Just like the Delta long sleeve jersey, the Ranger has strategically placed abrasion resistant zones, to prevent snagging and pulls from overgrown bits of nature you may brush up against.

As an extra bonus, the Ranger has odour resistant properties, so you won’t offend too many people while you are having that post ride beer.

The bright yellow helps you stand out from the natural greens and browns you get on the trails. This means that you will be easily visible and it will help you stand out on rad photos of you riding in the forests.

The chances are that if you have been mountain biking for a while, you will have some sort of Fox clothing item in your wardrobe. Why not compliment it (or start your collection) with something from the Fox Lunar range. Personally, I really like the jacket and the gloves, but any of these items are great for riding day or night. Please leave your questions and thoughts on this range in the comments section below.

Finally, there is a line of biking clothing that you won’t feel slightly embarrassed to wear on the road! In fact, these items look nice enough to wear for any occasion! I’m not sure why it took companies so long to come out with more stylish options, but I’m glad Fox is taking the lead in this area. If at the very least, it removes someone’s self-consciousness and gets them active, then that will be a great start! Thanks for making me aware of this clothing line!

As a cyclist, I really like the Fox Lunar wardrobe. In addition to all the great features, such as breathable and waterproof material and color (visibility in the dark), I also really like the design. I would very much like to wear this wardrobe every time I go for a bike ride.

This would serve me a great deal as I’m certainly one who enjoys riding regardless of time. I have to say, the reflective jackets I previously used wear out very quickly so I believe it’s time to get one with a very good quality. The defend lunar vest looks absolutely appealing, it is definitely my ideal fit. I’m glad I found this. Thanks

Among your list, the Defend Delta Lunar Jersey is my favorite one.

Thanks for bringing to us this excellent selection. I’m kind of skeptical in regards to how significantly aerodynamic of your clothing could affect overall performance; what I do truly believe in is how felling well-equipped impacts psychological aspects and of users and consequently final outcomes.

Getting the right gears is also associated with a sense of compromise with the final objective in any discipline. endurance during cycling is more mental than physical discipline.

in your opinion; What would be the percentile participation of Mental +  Physical in cycling-related sports?

      Hi Juan,

When you are on a fast downhill run, baggy clothing can slow you down. It has been hinted that World Cup downhill riders should be wearing skin tight lycra in the past. But, this would ruin the image of the sport.

The US Marines did a study and found that when you feel that you are 100% done with exerting yourself, you actually have another 40% left in you. Your mental state makes a huge difference to your performance.

Thank you for this post for the best MTB clothing. I have always been a fan of hi-viz clothing, even before it became more mainstream. I remember getting verbal abuse making fun of me wearing these bright reflective colors when biking and even when just out walking the dog.

Now everyone is wearing these kinds of clothing and it is great to see MTB clothing incorporating these colors into its gear. I think it just makes sense and I really like these choices for apparel by Fox, even the reflective grey Defend Lunar Vest looks great. I am definitely getting those gloves. They are super cool!

      Hi Robert,

Thanks for your comment. I live in the French Alps where there is a lot of hunting in the Autumn. So hi viz MTB clothing is a really good idea.
