At MTB-Threads, I want to help mountain bikers to buy the best clothing and accessories for when they are on the trails. So as the site grows you will be able to find reviews on all sorts of things that will make your rides more fun, comfortable and a more enjoyable experience. I do all the hard work for you, so you don’t have to trawl the internet for what you are looking for.
You may have some questions about how it all works, I think I have thought of most of them……..
How do I know what to review and how do I review it?
I thoroughly research material published by manufacturers, read forums and follow many social media channels. This is to see what is out there and what people want to know about. I try to test out as many of the products personally, but not all.
Why not?!
First of all, I don’t want to come across as a bit of a cheapskate, but it would be impossible to buy everything and give it a go. Secondly, it isn’t always the best way to go about reviewing stuff. Collating reviews from a number of sources means that I can get a better idea about a product. Some people may find a flaw that I would not, due to different circumstances. This way I can get an overall picture of what is good and what is not.
So is the “best” stuff reviewed always the most expensive?
No, I don’t always suggest the most expensive is the best. There are products that are a bit cheaper than the most expensive, but good enough. When writing multiple reviews, I like to give the reader a broad variety of products to read about. This way they can make up their own mind on how much money to spend and what they actually want. The best for one person may not be the best for another.
So when I click on a link, why does it take me to another site?
This is how I support myself. Each time someone buys something from one of those links, I get a tiny commission for researching the product. Don’t worry, you are not charged anymore for going through my site. The money earned will improve the site, in both the user experience and new reviews.
How do I know you are not biased towards certain products?
You don’t really, you will just have to trust me. I am completely independent and not attached to any other company and have no relationship with any brands. You will find minimum adverts on this site, as all money is earned from the reviews. I don’t really like adverts, as they can look messy and they annoy me.
What happens if I return a product?
My relationship with you guys is important, so I do my best to only recommend the good stuff. But if you send something back, I receive nothing, which is fine. If you are not happy with something please let me know. Your feedback on the products is very important and good for me to know. If it is really that bad, I will tell the world and stop promoting it.
How do I give feedback?
Let’s keep it transparent. You can comment on the page about your experience for everyone to see. I will always read and reply.
Please make sure you give feedback on:
1. What you love/hate about your purchase
2. What you wish was different
3. Who you think should buy it if at all
You can of course say whatever you want, but please make it concise and useful.
I hope you enjoy my site and find it useful, you can also contact me at tom@mtb-threads.com
