Mountain biking isn’t the cheapest past time you can take part in. Not everyone wants to or can spend’s thousands on a bike, especially if you are new to the sport. Arguably, your first mountain bike is the most important one you will own. It needs to be good enough to hook you in to riding, so it needs to be capable, reliable and most of all fun. Maybe the GT Aggressor mountain bike is the one for you. Keep reading to learn all about the 2020 GT Aggressor to help you decide.
Who is it for?
The GT Aggressor is a versatile entry level mountain bike. This is the bike for the person that wants a bike that is suitable for commuting, do some light off-road riding with fun at the top of their list.
As long as you don’t go too ambitious with super technical terrain, this is a good value entry level bike.
Details
The GT Aggressor mountain bike is an everyday bike for riding to school or work, but it is also a good one to have some fun on the trails. If you are planning on taking on some tech terrain in the near future, you will want to spend more money on something a little more substantial. But, if you want to ride local trails, canal paths etc the GT Aggressor will be absolutely fine for you.
Given its intended use, the components are are pretty durable. However, if you often ride very bumpy terrain, you may find that the fork is not particularly great at smoothing out the ride.
The GT Aggressor comes in three different specifications:
- Sport
- Comp
- Expert
If you can stretch to the Expert, you will have a much better bike with more durable components and a better fork.
When you choose your GT Aggressor, you have a choice of specifying 27.5″ 29″ wheels. This choice is becoming more popular and we are seeing this from most manufacturers now.
Which size you choose will all be down to personal preference. A mountain bike with a 27.5″ wheel has a more playful and nimble feeling to it. 29ers are faster in a straight line as they roll over bumps better and are usually ridden by taller riders.
Ride Characteristics
The frame is built to give you comfortable rides with a solid feel. It is mainly a commuter bike with the ability to ride off-road as long as you don’t plan on doing anything to crazy. For a bike in this price range, you can’t expect too much from it, but it does the job. If you are panning on doing more off road riding, I would save up a bit more and go for the Vitus Nucleus.
