Best Mountain Bike Shorts For Women: Look great on the trail

When it comes to mountain bike shorts for women, the good stuff often sells out very quickly, leaving just the geeky looking stuff left. Well, I have been doing some research in to the best mountain bike shorts for women andI think you will be happy with what I have found for you. But, you will need to be quick, as they will fly off the internet shelves!

The Fox Racing Flexair mountain bike shorts are made from their hard wearing TruMotion material.  They are held up by a ratchet buckle, and a grip made from silicone, running around the waistline. These shorts have two zipped pockets at the front, big enough for whatever you want to carry.

The stretchy material and the brilliantly located laser cut ventilation holes, make them very comfortable and cool.

Verdict

Fantastic lightweight and stretchy downhill shorts, that feel like trail shorts. They are very durable and worth the extra cost if you can justify it.

Nukeproof Blackline

The Nukeproof Blackline shorts are also excellent and  are made to be extremely comfortable. This comes from the  nice stretchy fabric. This material has been treated to repel water with a DWR coating, so you shouldn’t be troubled when splashing through muddy puddles.

The fly is secured with double popper buttons, while the pockets are zipped. You can make sure that they fit you perfectly with the adjustable internal Velcro straps. Inside the shorts, there are additional soft silicone panels that hold on to your inner shorts, providing you with even more security. To help with wicking moisture away and comfort, the waist band has a mesh lining too.

The Nukeproof Blackline shorts have two front zipped pockets, and one has a lanyard for attaching your keys to. and one rear pocket. The shorts are made to last with triple stitching and rubberised graphics, to keep them looking fresh for years to come.

Verdict

What I really like these shorts, is their subtle and cool design. Therefore, they look good on the trail, and won’t make you feel a bit silly in the pub after your ride either.

They are very well-made and are excellent value for money. However, the only criticism is that the back pocket is a bit too small to be practical. But, if you rid with a backpack you shouldn’t be too bothered by that.

Endura Humvee II Women's Mountain Bike Shorts

The Endura Humvee II shorts are Endura’s best-selling shorts, and it is easy to see why. These shorts have a loose fit and lots of great technical features. They look great when on your bike, but are not too bold and shouty for when you are not riding.

They have the DWR (Durable Water Resistant) coating, meaning that they will stop most rain showers and splashes from muddy puddles. These shorts have a few features to help with comfort too. The seat panel is seamless, meaning it there is nothing to rub, while the mesh panels in the legs will keep you cool. The elasticated waist band and integral belt will make sure they are the perfect fit for you.

These shorts have two hand pockets and a zipped cargo pocket, which is ideal for your phone.

Verdict

These women’s mountain bike shorts are excellent value for money. For the price, you probably won’t find shorts with the same level of features.

ION Traze Women's Mountain Bike Shorts

The ION Traze shorts are perfect for riding on warm days. These shorts have a two-way stretch fabric and four way stretch inserts. This is so they will not restrict your movement when you are riding your bike. They are thin and breathable, but also feel very durable, giving you confidence that they are going to last.

The Traze shorts have laser cut ventilation holes on the inside leg to keep you cool.

These shorts have a very nice tidy look to them, as pockets are flush. Because of this they are not fussy or shouty, but cool and refined.

Velcro waist adjustment helps you get the perfect fit, while the pocket is good for a lift pass, but not much else.

Verdict

Inspired by ION’s surf wear, the Traze women’s mountain bike shorts are no-nonsense and made to be comfortable. The short’s flat colours will allow you to wear them with a lot of different jerseys too.
